An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Airborne Troops' artillery unit of the Dnipro group of troops has hit a Grad multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in the Kakhovsky direction in Kherson Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 9.

After launching the Lancet, the barrage munition crossed the line of contact along the riverbed. In parallel, the operator of the Zala reconnaissance UAV prioritized the destruction of the AFU's BM-21 Grad MLRS, which was camouflaged and firing at civilians on the left bank of the Dnieper.

Professionally controlling the Lancet, the operator worked on the target. After a direct hit, the AFU rocket launcher was hit.

"(The Lancet. - Ed.) can carry a shaped charge or fragmentation charge depending on the type of target to be hit. There are versions with a day camera or thermal imager, that is, we can work both day and night," - said the senior operator of the UAV with the call sign Afganets.

The Defense Ministry specified that at this section of the SSO UAV units have eliminated more than a dozen guns, multiple rocket launchers, air defense installations and other types of military equipment of the AFU both Soviet and Western production.

Earlier, on January 1, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that calculations of Buk-M2 anti-aircraft missile systems of the Dnepr group of troops destroyed a Ukrainian UAV in the Kakhovka direction in Kherson Region. While on combat duty, a Buk-M2 SAM system detected and escorted an enemy aerial target. The artillerymen launched an anti-aircraft guided missile and hit the target, which was conducting aerial reconnaissance of the positions of the Russian Armed Forces troops.
