Ka-52 crew strikes at AFU equipment and stronghold in Kursk region

An army aviation crew on a Ka-52 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group has struck with air missiles at the Ukrainian Armed Forces' (AFU) manpower, armored vehicles and a stronghold in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 9.
During the support of the units of the "North" group of forces, the pilots of the army aviation worked according to the coordinates of the aviation gunner and hit the stronghold, equipment and personnel of the AFU.
After receiving confirmation from the aerial spotter that the target had been successfully destroyed, the crew performed an anti-missile maneuver with the firing of heat traps to prevent a man-portable air defense system (MANPADS) missile from hitting the target.
Earlier, on January 8, Russian Armed Forces attack helicopters struck AFU military equipment in the Kursk border region. A group of Russian Army attack helicopters, consisting of Mi-28NM, Ka-52M and accompanying Mi-8PSG, carried out tasks to support the ground group of troops and struck AFU military equipment.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
