Russian fighters share results of repelling AFU counterattacks in Kursk region

After Russian troops managed to repel the Ukrainian counterattack of Berdin and Novosotnitskiy in the border area of Kursk Region, the soldiers of the 30th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the "North" group of forces, together with other related units, had already gone on the offensive themselves.

According to the servicemen, it was one of the most difficult days on the line of contact in recent times. The Ukrainian counterattack was repelled by all units.

"From the very morning until late in the evening, we knocked out the enemy. We were ready to work with direct fire, we have already tried," the commander of a D-30 gun with the call sign Prokha told Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak on January 9.

Through joint efforts, the military managed to stop the Ukrainian Armed Forces' (AFU) offensive in Berdin and Novosotnitskoye, and now Russian servicemen are fighting for Russkoe, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye and Martynivka.

The recently mobilized Ukrainian servicemen who were captured said that they received inarticulate orders from their commanders.

According to the AFU fighters, they were brought in several armored vehicles from Sumy region and dropped off in a wooded area near Berdin, where they were immediately met by attack aircraft of the 30th motorized rifle regiment of the "North" group of troops.

"As a result - 26 prisoners in two days. And the equipment on which they were taken out was smashed by kamikaze drones," - noted Fedorchak.

For the future operation Ukrainian servicemen were prepared by instructors from the United States and the EU.

"There was a girl, an American. And then there was tactical training. But there is not an Englishman, but a Dane, well, and an American marine," - shared the prisoner of war.

As stated by the commander of the assault unit of the 30th motorized rifle regiment of the group "North" under the call sign Mirazh, the reconnaissance company for the day hit seven units of AFU equipment.

Earlier, on January 8, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage of the combat work of servicemen of units of the 30th motorized rifle regiment of the "North" group of forces to hit armored vehicles and personnel of the AFU in the Kursk border area. The Ukrainian army made an attempt to get to Berdin, but it was unsuccessful.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
