Bundestag says EU sanctions harm Germany

The EU sanctions regime against Russia has harmed Germany first and foremost, German Bundestag deputy Rainer Rothfuss told Izvestia.
"Alternative for Germany has already pointed out that the EU system serves more to control and contain the FRG than to fairly consider our legitimate interests. The EU's attack on our key industry with the ban on internal combustion engines has been a serious blow to our national economy. The EU sanctions regime against Russia has harmed Germany above all. That is why we are in favor of greater autonomy and sovereignty for the Federal Republic of Germany," he said.
In 2023, EU countries approved a law that will require all new cars to have zero CO2 emissions from 2035, effectively implying a ban on diesel and gasoline engines.
