The increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is probably not the cause, but a consequence of ocean warming. This was reported in an interview with Izvestia by Sergei Yazev, director of the Astronomical Observatory of Irkutsk State University and senior researcher at the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"We have a self-regulating system, when warming leads to an increase in evaporation and, as a consequence, an increase in cloudiness in the atmosphere. At the same time, clouds do not allow solar radiation to reach the ground, reflecting it back into space. This provokes a decrease in temperature, a decrease in evaporation, and a decrease in the number of clouds. And so on - in a circle", - explained the scientist.

He noted that these and a number of other mechanisms provide conditions for life on Earth for almost four billion years. As a consequence, emphasized Yazev, contrary to popular opinion, it may be that the increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is not the cause, but a consequence of ocean warming.

He explained that up to 60% of all the reserves of this substance are dissolved in the oceans. With the warming of the water, which is now occurring, the gas is coming out - like from a warm bottle of champagne.
