On January 8, an operator of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Akhmat special forces with the call sign Psikh told Izvestiya about the cohesive work of the fighters and the success of the units during the attempt of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) to break through near the village of Berdin in Kursk Region.

It is known that only during the first day his unit eliminated nine units of Ukrainian equipment with the use of kamikaze drones. According to Psykh, on January 5, the unit was informed that a large armored column of the enemy was coming from near Suja in their direction. It turned out that the column consisted of tanks, armored vehicles and armored personnel carriers, and ahead of it was a trawl spreading mines.

The UAV operator noted that the sight caused him great excitement. Despite this, the task of stopping the armored group was accomplished on the first day.

"The guys from other units - from tanks, artillery, operators - also hit. It was a cohesive and beautiful work of the highest order," Psykh emphasized.

He added that for the next two days the servicemen finished burning the hit vehicles "so they wouldn't be dragged away" and hunted for vehicles and infantry scattered in the landings.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage of combat work by servicemen of units of the 30th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the "North" group of troops to hit armored vehicles and AFU personnel in the Kursk border region. The Ukrainian army made an attempt to get to Berdin, but it was unsuccessful.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
