In Kirov region, a local resident mistook his acquaintance for a beast while hunting and accidentally shot him. This was reported on January 8 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (ICS) of Russia in the region.

It is specified that the incident occurred on Monday, January 6, near the village of Valovy Kotelnichsky district. The suspect noticed a shadow at a distance of about 100 meters and, believing it to be a wild animal, fired a shot from a rifled hunting rifle.

"As a result of a gunshot wound to the left leg, the man died at the scene," - stated on the website of the agency.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Kirov region, the investigation of the criminal case continues.

Earlier, on April 21, 2024, in the village of Martemyanovo near Moscow, a 52-year-old Muscovite accidentally shot a six-year-old girl with an air gun. The incident occurred the previous day at the dacha of the man's friends, when those gathered took turns shooting at aluminum cans with air guns. At the moment of handing over the pneumatics, the man accidentally fired. He was detained and charged under Part 1 Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence").
