As a result of a sudden attack of an elephant on a crowd of people at a festival held in the Indian state of Kerala, 17 people were injured. This was reported by NDTV channel on January 8.

According to the TV channel, the elephant picked up one of the visitors of the festival, rocked in the air and threw him aside. The man's condition is assessed as critical and he is currently in the hospital for medical attention.

Most of the other injuries were sustained as a result of the crush caused by the panic of people. It is noted that the animal was trying to control with chains, the attempt to calm him took about two hours.

Earlier, June 21, 2024, The New York Post newspaper with reference to the authorities of Zambia reported that the elephant pulled out of the car and trampled to death a 64-year-old tourist from the United States. At the time, it was noted that this was the second case in the past year.
