Russian Armed Forces attack helicopters hit AFU military equipment in the Kursk border area

A group of Russian Army attack helicopters, consisting of Mi-28NM, Ka-52M and Mi-8PSG escorting them, carried out tasks to support the ground group of troops and struck military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 8.

"According to the coordinates of the forward gunner, the crews of Ka-52 helicopters launched a missile strike on armored, automotive equipment and personnel of the AFU hidden in a wooded area," the ministry said.

It added that intelligence reported the destruction of AFU personnel and equipment. The crews of the helicopters returned to the airfield.

The Defense Ministry pointed out that the army aviation in the framework of the special operation escorts convoys, delivers paratroopers and military cargo, destroys enemy armored vehicles and provides air support to units performing combat missions. The Ministry's footage shows helicopters preparing for flight and missile launches.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry showed the combat work of the crew of the Su-35S multipurpose f ighter of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS), which performed the task of escorting fighter-bombers in the border area of the Kursk Region. At that time, the Su-34 fighter jet struck an AFU stronghold and personnel, successfully destroying the target, and then the entire aviation group returned to the basing airfield.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
