American entrepreneur and billionaire Ilon Musk on Wednesday, January 8, mocked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's refusal to U . S. President-elect Donald Trump to make Canada the 51st state of the United States and called Trudeau a girl.

Earlier in the day, Canada's head of government said there was no chance of the country becoming part of the United States. Trudeau, however, pointed out that Ottawa and Washington are critical partners in trade and security and that this cooperation benefits the people of both states.

"Girl, you're no longer the governor of Canada, so your words don't matter", Musk wrote on his social media page X (formerly Twitter).

Trump proposed to incorporate Canada into the United States as the 51st state during a meeting with Trudeau on December 3, 2024. The president-elect of the United States noted at the time that this integration could happen if Ottawa could not deal with illegal migration and drug smuggling.

Moreover, on December 10, Trump said that the US states could become Canada and Mexico. The CBC television channel, citing the country's Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, reported on December 17 that Canada will spend $900 million to secure its border with the United States.

During his Christmas address on December 25, the president-elect of the United States promised to halve tax cuts for Canadian citizens if Canada becomes the 51st state of the United States. In addition, in this speech, Trump congratulated Trudeau on the holiday, calling him not the head of government, but the governor of Canada.

Later on January 7, Canadian Ontario Premier Doug Ford on January 7 offered to purchase Alaska after the statements of the American leader-elect. Ford emphasized that under his watch, Canada would not join the United States.
