The losses of the AFU in the Kursk region exceeded 50 thousand servicemen


The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have exceeded 50,000 servicemen for the entire period of fighting in the Kursk border area. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on 8 January.
During the day the losses of the AFU amounted to more than 290 servicemen, a tank, an armored personnel carrier, four armored combat vehicles, four vehicles and three artillery pieces of the enemy were also destroyed.
"The strikes of operational-tactical, army aviation and artillery fire hit the enemy's manpower and equipment in the areas of the settlements of Veselovka, Guevo, Daryino, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Nikolayevka, Nikolsky, Novenkoye, Pogrebki, Sverdlikovo, Yuzhny, as well as Belovody, Vodolagi and Zhuravka in Sumy region," the defense ministry said in a statement.
The units of the group of troops "North" defeated the formations of four mechanized, tank, airborne assault, assault brigades, two brigades of territorial defense and assault regiment of the AFU, as well as a brigade of the national guard of Ukraine.
Earlier in the day, the Defense Ministry reported that unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators from the "North" troop group destroyed a 122-millimeter 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit ( SPU ) of the AFU in the border area of Kursk Region.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
