The Defense Ministry published footage of the destruction of the Gvozdika SAU by the AFU in Kursk region

Operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from the "North" group of troops have destroyed a 122-millimeter self-propelled artillery unit (SAU) 2S1 Gvozdika of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. The corresponding footage was published by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 8.

It is reported that the operator of the reconnaissance drone Zala began reconnaissance and found the 2S1 "Gvozdika" SAU of the AFU camouflaged in a forest belt. After that, the Lancet drone operator captured the target and destroyed the enemy self-propelled artillery unit.

Earlier, on January 7, servicemen of the group of troops "North" with the help of FPV-drones destroyed two heavy drones of the AFU "Baba Yaga" in Kharkiv region. It was reported that the troop group continues to track down the Ukrainian combat UAVs and destroy them.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
