Oman minister calls Russian Federation an attractive tourist destination

Oman considers Russia an attractive tourist destination. This was stated by Oman's Minister of Heritage and Tourism Salem bin Mohammed al-Mahrouki on January 8, answering Izvestia's question.
"Countries in the region have realized that Russia is a very attractive tourist destination and can become a competitor for traditional tourist destinations in Western Europe or America. We welcome the flow of Omani tourists to various Russian cities," the head of the ministry said, speaking to reporters.
He recalled the direct air service between Russia and Oman. According to him, this contributes to the growth of tourism between the countries. Various visits of Russian representatives are planned, the Omani minister pointed out.
He also expressed hope that the number of Russian tourists will increase in the future, which will be facilitated by direct air service between the countries.
Earlier, on December 25 last year, "Izvestia" in the Russian diplomatic mission in Oman told that the tourist flow from Russia to the country in 2024 may exceed last year's figure by 25% - the number of Russian tourists may reach 70 thousand people. At the same time, the Russian embassy told about the interest of Omani citizens in Russia. Mainly subjects of the sultanate visit Moscow and St. Petersburg, the popularity of Kazan, Sochi and other Russian cities is growing.
