Major UK hospitals are unable to cope with the influx of patients with flu and other viral diseases. The Times reported on January 7.

"Eight major hospitals have declared a critical condition in the last 24 hours due to "exceptionally high demand" because of the seasonal load on emergency departments due to influenza," - stated in the material of the publication.

It is specified that hospital employees are under enormous pressure as the number of people who fell ill with flu in late December has increased dramatically. Also medical institutions are facing a constant load due to cases of other viral diseases.

In some medical institutions, the waiting time for help in emergency departments reaches 50 hours, "Gazeta.Ru" specified.

Earlier, on January 5, the chief physician of Beijing Children's Hospital Wang Quan said that China has reached the period of peak spread of respiratory diseases, the causative agents of which are most often influenza viruses and Mycoplasma pneumoniae. She identified fever, muscle and headache, cough, runny nose, as well as nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite among the main symptoms in infected children.
