Germany accused Zelensky of silencing the loss of Kurakhovo

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expired in May 2024) did not mention in a video message that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had lost Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). The German newspaper Haldelsbatt wrote about this on January 7.
"Zelensky did not mention the situation near Kurakhovo at all. <...> After the capture of Kurakhovo, the Russian armed forces moved into open areas for maneuvering," the publication wrote.
By now, it remains unclear where exactly the AFU has built a defensive line near Kurakhovo, Gazeta.Ru added.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported theliberation of Kurakhovo by the Russian military on January 6. The ministry said that this is the largest city in the southwest of Donbass. During the fighting to liberate the settlement, the AFU lost more than 12,000 people and about 3,000 weapons and military equipment.
At the same time, footage was published in which Russian fighters, liberating Kurakhovo, destroyed at least 18 units of Ukrainian equipment, which was located in forest belts and among residential houses. Later, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the Russian military on the liberation of the city.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
