Air defense systems intercepted 32 Ukrainian drones overnight over Russian regions, the Russian Defence Ministry has said. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 8.

"During the past night, on-duty air defense means intercepted and destroyed 32 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)," the press service informed in the department's Telegram channel.

It is specified that 11 drones were intercepted over the territory of the Saratov region, four UAVs each over the territories of the Kursk and Rostov regions, three each over the territories of the Belgorod and Bryansk regions, two over the territory of the Krasnodar region, one over the territory of the Volgograd region and four over the waters of the Sea of Azov.

Earlier, on January 6, air defense forces destroyed 12 Ukrainian UAVs over Russian regions overnight. It is specified that seven UAVs were shot down over the territory of Kursk Region, two each over Belgorod and Bryansk Regions and one over the Republic of Crimea.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
