The governor thanked Biden for helping fight the Los Angeles fires

California Governor Gavin Newsom thanked U.S. President Joe Biden for federal assistance as wildfires continue in the Los Angeles area. CNN reported on January 7.
"I just want to thank the president because this is something I don't take for granted. This is something that we should not take for granted at this moment in American history," Newsom said.
The California governor also noted the swiftness of the relief effort.
Earlier in the day, the city of Los Angeles declared a state of emergency due to the wildfires. City Council President Markis Harris-Dawson said that the city will use all resources. Meanwhile, 27,000 local residents of Pacific Palisades are called for forced evacuation.
