Tankers hit a camouflaged AFU gun near Chasovy Yar

Tankers of the Southern Group of Forces in cooperation with a reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) hit a camouflaged gun of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Chach-Yar direction. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 8.
While conducting aerial reconnaissance, a camouflaged artillery position of the AFU was detected in a forest belt. After conducting additional reconnaissance of the target, the coordinates of the enemy gun were transmitted to the artillery fire control point.
The command immediately decided to destroy the Ukrainian nationalists' gun with the fire of T-80 tanks from a closed firing position.
The tank, which had moved out to fulfill the combat mission, opened fire on the target from a closed position and hit the AFU artillery piece with a direct hit.
Earlier, on January 6, the crew of a T-80 tank of the 51st Guards Panzer Army's separate tank battalion destroyed an AFU stronghold in the Donetsk region. After accomplishing the combat task, the crew withdraws the tank to prevent the AFU reconnaissance from detecting it. The work is being carried out around the clock.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
