- Hundreds of French residents celebrated the death of Jean-Marie Le Pen with songs and fireworks

Several hundred opponents of Jean-Marie Le Pen, founder of the National Front, the main right-wing party in France, gathered in several French cities to celebrate his death with songs, smoke bombs and fireworks. TV5 Monde reported on Jan. 7.
"Young people are pissing off the National Front," chanted the protesters, some of whom climbed the central statue, while others shouted anti-fascist slogans.
According to the TV station, the protesters drank champagne and decorated themselves with small festive hats and the inscription "At Last" and launched festive fireworks and smoke bombs into the sky.
"Nothing, absolutely nothing, justifies dancing on bones. The death of a human being, even a political opponent, should evoke only restraint and dignity. These scenes of jubilation are simply shameful," commented Interior Minister Bruno Reteilo on X (formerly Twitter).
On this day at the age of 96, the former leader of the party "National Front" French politician Jean-Marie Le Pen died at the age of 96. It is noted that Le Pen died surrounded by loved ones after several weeks spent in a medical center in the city of Garsh near Paris. The state of health of the politician has deteriorated sharply in recent years.
