A gang of cab drivers who robbed people has been detained in Istanbul


Istanbul police have detained 24 people on suspicion of stealing cash from tourists under the pretext of checking for counterfeiting. Anadolu Agency reported on January 7.
"As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office, detention warrants have been issued for 30 suspects," the publication said.
The attackers reportedly colluded with cab drivers in Istanbul's popular tourist districts of Beyoğlu, Şişli and Fatih. Detention of fraudsters was conducted at 36 addresses during the investigation.
In addition, law enforcers seized unregistered firearms from the detainees. It is noted that the head of the group was detained.
The total amount of funds stolen by the swindlers is not reported.
Earlier, December 30, in Turkey detained a group of fraudsters who earned $60 million by deceiving tourists. The operation to detain the attackers was carried out for five months. The suspects published false advertisements of hotels in the format of bungalows and deceived customers, while receiving money for fake reservations.
