Customs officers discovered a possible explosive device at Chisinau airport


A suspected explosive object was found and neutralized at the Chisinau airport. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the airport customs on Tuesday, January 7.
"Border police and customs officers, as a result of special control during the processing of postal items at Chisinau International Airport, discovered an object resembling a toy in the shape of a car, which was perceived as components of an explosive object," the report said.
The customs informed that after the discovery of the suspicious object, according to the established regulations, the employees of the Center for Technical-Criminalistic and Forensic Examination of the IGP were called to the place. They examined the object and neutralized it.
The Border Police said that the airport operations have not been disrupted and passengers and staff are safe.
As the news portal PulsMedia notes, the homemade bomb, disguised as a parcel with a radio-controlled car, was sent by the Ukrainian post office and was to arrive in Tbilisi.
Earlier, on October 6, two people were killed and at least eight injured in an explosion that occurred near the Jinnah International Airport in the Pakistani city of Karachi.
Before that, on October 2, all flights were canceled at the airport in Japan's Miyazaki prefecture after a suspected explosion and smoke erupted on one of the taxiways. Staff and passengers were evacuated from the building.
