Russian military reveals details of repelling attempted counterattack by AFU in Kursk region

Militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), who tried to launch a counterattack in the Kursk direction on January 6, were spotted in advance with the help of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This was reported to Izvestia on January 7 by the head of intelligence of the Akhmat special forces unit with the call sign Shatun.

"They were quite openly advancing towards us, it was a long trip. Our UAV saw them in advance, and, accordingly, began to work on them, began to meet them. We worked from a tank, and a group from FPV. We met them quite productively," Shatun said.

He added that in the combat zone in the Kursk direction one should never relax, and fighters are constantly waiting for the enemy to arrive to meet him in combat readiness.

Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak, who visited the battle line in the Kursk region, said that the sounds of mopping up of territories from the AFU and fighting in wooded areas could be heard there. In addition, the journalist's drone detector went off.

A special forces fighter with the call sign Skipper pointed out that he had not participated in small arms battles for a long time, and such an encounter occurred during the reflection of an attempted counterattack by the AFU. The military man added that the number of flying Ukrainian drones has also decreased.

On the eve, January 6, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian military had repelled an attempt by AFU assault groups to counterattack in the direction of the village of Bolshoye Soldatskoye in Kursk Region. On the same day, fighters of the volunteer unit "Burevestnik" gave Izvestia the footage of the Russian military reflecting this counterattack of the AFU. The video shows a column of Ukrainian equipment moving, on which the Russian military is striking. The targets were successfully destroyed.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
