The Russian wooden boat "Pilgrim" was wrecked off the coast of Malaysia during a round-the-world voyage. This was reported in the Russian Embassy on January 7.
It is specified that the incident occurred on December 20, 2024 off the northern coast of the island of Borneo.
"Since the moment the information about the incident was received, the diplomatic mission has been in contact with the captain of the vessel S.V. Sinelnik," the diplomatic mission told RIA Novosti.
The crew members, including three Russians and a citizen of Belarus, were not injured and are feeling well. The Russian Embassy said that they are being provided with the necessary assistance.
At the moment the damaged vessel has been lifted ashore. One Russian has already returned home, and the remaining three travelers will leave on Tuesday, January 7.
The wooden rook "Pilgrim" is a replica of the Pomor rook of the 19th century.
Earlier, on December 24, 2024, a Russian vessel crashed in the Mediterranean Sea. As a result of the accident, two people were missing, 14 crew members were rescued. According to media reports, the ship left St. Petersburg 12 days ago and was on its way to Vladivostok, where it was due to arrive on January 12.
