There was no information about the presence of Russian citizens in the earthquake zone in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) in the south-west of China. This was reported by the Russian Embassy in China on January 7.

"In connection with the earthquake that occurred on January 7 this year in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, we inform that at the moment there is no information about the presence of Russian citizens in the disaster zone," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the diplomatic mission.

The Russian Embassy is actively cooperating with the Chinese authorities.

On the same day it was reported that the number of dead as a result of the earthquake in TAR increased to 95 people, 130 more suffered.

The earthquake occurred on January 7 in China near the border with Nepal and Bangladesh. Underground tremors were recorded in the Tibet Autonomous Region. The epicenter was located at a depth of 10 km and at a distance of 63 km south-west of the city of Shigadze, which is inhabited by 80 thousand people.

Later it became known that as a result of the disaster in Dingri County collapsed more than 1 thousand houses.
