Russian Defense Ministry reports strikes on AFU military airfields

The Russian army has launched strikes on weapons depots and infrastructure of military airfields of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on 7 December.

It is specified that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (AFU) struck with the help of operational-tactical aviation, attack drones, missile troops and artillery.

"<...> The infrastructure of military airfields, weapons depots, as well as accumulations of manpower and equipment of the AFU armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 164 areas were hit," the ministry said in a statement.

In addition, air defense means (air defense) shot down six HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and 50 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones.

Also, units of the Center group of forces improved their tactical position. They defeated AFU formations in the areas of the settlements of Druzhba, Panteleimonovka, Myroliubovka, Shcherbinovka, Dzerzhinsk, Vozdvizhenka, Shevchenko, Alexandropol, Dyleyevka and Volkovo in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).

On the same day it was reported that the calculation of anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) "Strela-10" of the grouping of troops "Dnipro" hit a drone of the AFU. It is noted that this weapon is capable of destroying aerial targets at ranges from 800 to 5,000 meters and altitudes from 25 to 3,500 meters.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
