The Russian Embassy in Nepal said on January 7 that no information about Russian citizens injured in the earthquake in Tibet has been received so far.

"The Russian Embassy in Nepal is closely following the development of the situation and is in touch with local authorities. At the moment, there is no information about casualties among Russian citizens," the press service informed the diplomatic mission's Telegram channel.

The embassy also urged Russians to take precautions, follow the instructions of local authorities and in case of need to contact the embassy by emergency phone.

The earthquake occurred this day in China near the border with Nepal and Bangladesh. Underground tremors were recorded in the Tibet Autonomous Region. The epicenter was located at a depth of 10 km and at a distance of 63 km south-west of the city of Shigadze, which is inhabited by 80 thousand people.

Later it became known that the earthquake in Tibet killed 36 people. It is specified that at least 38 people were injured, and in the district of Dingri collapsed more than 1 thousand houses.
