The current US administration has rejected accusations of obstruction in the process of transferring power to the President-elect Donald Trump, which were voiced from his side. This was stated by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on January 6. The broadcast of the briefing was published on the YouTube channel of The Union Herald newspaper.

"The president wanted that back. A peaceful transfer of power. Would have said, would have reminded everyone that he didn't get that four years ago," Jean-Pierre commented.

She also noted that the mandate received from US President Joe Biden was to respect the freedom of choice of citizens and guarantee an effective transition of power to the next administration.

On this day, Trump said that Biden is doing everything possible to impede the process of transferring power. The Republican wrote about this on his Truth Social media page.

"Biden is doing everything he can to make the transition difficult, including unprecedented litigation and costly, ridiculous executive orders," Trump said.

Earlier in the day, the US Congress officially declared Trump the winner of the 60th presidential election. Trump's victory was announced by his rival in the November 5 election, incumbent US Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the head of the Senate. The Republican's victory was approved without any objections.

The election for the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5, 2024. In the popular vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Harris received 47.4%. Later, Trump, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th president of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.

On December 18, 2024, the U.S. Electoral College officially confirmed Trump's victory in the election. According to the final data, he gained 312 votes. Harris, in turn, received the support of 226 electors.
