The doctor gave advice on how to restore the body after New Year's feasts

After the New Year holidays, plenty of food and late wake-ups, it can be difficult for the body to switch to the working mode. Chief physician of Palmira Clinic, candidate of medical sciences, psychotherapist Yanina Fedorenko told in an interview with "Gazeta.Ru" on Monday, January 6, how to help the body come back to normal.
"One of the main problems after the holidays is the disruption of the sleep schedule. To avoid morning fatigue, start preparing the body in advance: every day go to bed 15-30 minutes earlier and gradually bring the rise time to the usual. This way you will restore biological rhythms and the first working days will be easier," the doctor explained.
She noted that usually New Year's feasts lead to the fact that the body receives a lot of fatty food, salt and sugar consumption exceeds the daily norms. Fedorenko advised to include in the diet vegetables and fruits rich in vitamins, as well as protein food. She also reminded about the need to drink enough fluids to speed up metabolism.
"Rest is no reason to forget about movement. Going to the rink, going skiing, and other moving activities are great ways to stay active over the holidays. But even light exercise or a 30-minute walk in the fresh air can help restore tone. If you did sports before the holidays, return to training gradually, so as not to overload the body," - emphasized the expert.
She also recommended not to rush immediately to fulfill the accumulated work tasks, not to try to do everything at once. The body needs some time to readjust, and it is better that the transition from the New Year holidays to the working schedule was smooth.
"If you feel a drop in energy, apathy or other signs of fatigue, do not delay a visit to the doctor. Holidays, although associated with joy, can be stressful for the body, so it sometimes needs support," concluded Fedorenko.
Earlier, on January 2, the head of the laboratory for the study and correction of eating behavior NMIC therapy and preventive medicine of the Ministry of Health of Russia Sofia Eliashevich told "Izvestia" why people finish after the holidays all that they have cooked, and how it harms health. She noted that overeating is fraught with an increase in body weight for seven days by an average of 2.5 kg, the risk of food infections and poisoning, exacerbations of gastrointestinal diseases.
Earlier, December 30, freelance nutritionist of the Department of Health Antonina Starodubova said that the least caloric among the traditional New Year salads are "Mimosa" and herring under a fur coat. She added that the traditional New Year's Eve salad Olivier has a high content of saturated fats and dietary salt.
