- During the New Year holidays, a charitable event "Wish Tree" was held at the headquarters of the South Military District

On New Year's holidays, the Southern Military District (SMD) headquarters in Rostov-on-Don hosted events of the charity event "Wish Tree". This was reported by the press service of the district on January 7.
The command and servicemen of the 150th Guards Independent Motorized Rifle Division of the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District took part in the All-Russian charity event "Christmas Tree of Wishes".
Members of the command of the unit took toys with children's wishes off the holiday tree and fulfilled them. The wishes were different: children wanted puppet sets, paints for drawing and many other things. Soldiers of the division fulfilled the New Year's dreams of the children from Orphanage No. 8.
The children were also given a common gift and organized a trip to a virtual reality club, where the children and the servicemen were able to play together.
The charity event also congratulated children of servicemen of the South Military District, whose New Year wishes were also placed in Christmas tree toys.
"Anatoly, dreams of a fitness bracelet. We will gladly give him a fitness bracelet," said Deputy Commander of the South Military District, Lieutenant General Vladimir Kochetkov.
In turn, Santa Claus, who was present at the event, supported the command of the South Military District and promised to provide his magical assistance in fulfilling the New Year's wishes of all children.
All the children's wishes, including a dollhouse, laptop, telephones, remote control toy cars and various sweets, were fulfilled at their homes by Ded Moroz and Snegurochka.
Earlier, on January 6, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Kiriyenko made presents to four children from the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) as part of the "Christmas Tree of Wishes" charity event. Three brothers aged three, six and eleven received constructors and a toy railroad, and another ten-year-old boy Kirienko gave a sports backpack.
The "Wishing Tree" charity event is a project of the Russian "Movement of the First" with the support of Rosmolodezh, which has been taking place since 2018 and lasts from mid-November to the end of February. Thanks to the campaign, children between the ages of three and seventeen who find themselves in a difficult life situation get the opportunity to fulfill a cherished wish or receive a gift for the New Year. In 2023, the Wishing Tree started on November 15 and runs until February 28, 2024.
