Russian army artillerymen told about the liberation of Kurakhovo

Soldiers of artillery units of the Russian Army worked against infantry, lightly armored vehicles and various vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during the liberation of the town of Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). Russian artillerymen told Izvestia on January 6.

"On BM-21 we work, support and infantry and fulfill the tasks we are given, successfully. The enemy, it happens, often snaps back. We do our job as best we can, we do our best. Mostly the targets are the enemy's manpower - infantry, lightly armored vehicles, as well as "KamAZ", "Ural", pickup trucks", - said the Russian military man with the call sign Beard.

He noted that in cases when the AFU attempts a counteroffensive, the Russian artillery moves out sharply and tries to undercut the enemy. In addition, artillerymen support Russian troops before or during an offensive as soon as they receive an order.

Boroda noted that Ukrainian fighters often launch FPV drones. Together with artillery units of the Russian Armed Forces (AF), a group of counter-drone operators is constantly working to suppress the AFU drones.

A Russian military officer with the call sign Krasny told Izvestia correspondent Valentin Trushnin that the liberation of Kurakhovo has a great merit of tankers and infantrymen. They showed courage and heroism, did a great job.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian army had liberated Kurakhovo. The ministry said that this is the largest city in the southwest of Donbass. During the fighting to liberate the settlement, the AFU lost more than 12,000 people and about 3,000 weapons and military equipment, including 40 tanks and other armored vehicles.

At the same time, footage was published on which Russian fighters, liberating Kurakhovo, destroyed at least 18 units of Ukrainian equipment, which was located in forest belts and among residential houses.

On the same day, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the Russian military on the liberation of the city, emphasizing the courage and determination of the actions of the 110th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade in Kurakhovo. The liberation of the city, as the head of the Defense Ministry noted, will become a symbol of courage and steadfastness of the Russian military.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
