- Belousov pointed to the courage and heroism of the Russian Armed Forces soldiers who liberated Kurakhovo

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov has congratulated Russian servicemen who showed courage and heroism during the liberation of the settlement of Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) on January 6. This is stated in his congratulatory telegram published in the Telegram channel of the Defense Ministry.
It is specified that the Defense Minister congratulated the command and personnel of the 110th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade.
"Your courageous and decisive actions allow you to successfully repel the enemy and make a huge contribution to the overall advance of the Southern grouping of troops," his telegram reads.
According to Belousov, the liberation of Kurakhovo will become a symbol of courage and steadfastness of Russian servicemen. He also emphasized that this event "will go down in the history of military feats."
In addition, the Defense Minister thanked the soldiers of the 5th and 110th separate motorized rifle brigades for their loyalty to military duty, the Fatherland and the oath. Belousov is confident that the Russian military will continue to honorably ensure the security of the state.
On January 6, it was reported that the Russian military had completely liberated the town of Kurakhovo. As a result of the combat work of Russian troops in the liberation of the settlement, the enemy lost 80% of the living force (more than 12,000 people), about 3,000 pieces of weapons and military equipment, including 40 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles.
A serviceman of the Russian army's "South" group, a platoon commander with the call sign Leshyy, said that the Russian forces captured Kurakhovo from two directions. First, the villages of Maximilianivka and Ostrovskoye were taken under control, followed by Ilyinka, Stepanivka and Dalneye.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
