Russian President Vladimir Putin will traditionally attend the Christmas service this year. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this on January 6.

"Yes, of course, this tradition will be observed by the president this year as well," he told TASS.

The Kremlin will give details later, Peskov added.

Every year on the night of January 7, a Divine Liturgy is celebrated on Christmas Day in churches across Russia. The services are personally led by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. During the service, clergy sing solemn hymns and prayers. The main hymn of the feast is the troparion "Thy Nativity, O Christ our God...", which is a short prayer chant. It is sung several times during the service, with the choir singing along.
