Transnistria says 122 settlements disconnected from gas supply


In Transnistria, 122 settlements have been disconnected from gas supply. This was reported by the head of the government of the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (TMR), Alexander Rosenberg, in his Telegram channel on January 6.
"On the site of the presidential administration there was a meeting of the operational headquarters, created to minimize the consequences of gas supply interruption. The participants discussed stabilization measures in the energy and social sphere. The main facts and figures: 122 settlements remain without gas," - written in the message.
Rosenberg added that gas is supplied to multi-storey houses in small quantities only for cooking. Gas stoves can be used in more than 118 thousand apartments.
Earlier, on January 1, centralized heating was cut off in Transnistria after the suspension of Russian gas supplies to Moldova. It is reported that from 7:00 (08:00 Moscow time) in the morning the supply of thermal energy for heating and hot water supply to the population is stopped.
December 28, the press service of Gazprom reported that from January 1, it would stop supplies to Moldova due to non-payment of debts by the country. In turn, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean did not recognize the debt and threatened to sue.
"Gazprom and Moldovagaz signed a five-year contract for gas supplies in the fall of 2021. It provided for Chisinau to pay the debt for supplies in the past few years. The entire amount was estimated at $709 million, of which Chisinau officially recognizes only $8.6 million.
