- The Defense Ministry reported an attempt by the AFU to attack ZNPP and Energodar with drones

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have attempted an attack by eight unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (ZNPP) and Energodar. This was reported in the Ministry of Defense on January 6.
It is specified that the AFU struck the facility and the city on Sunday, January 5.
"By means of air defense all unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed," - stated in the message.
According to the agency, the fall of one Ukrainian drone resulted in an explosion that caused a fire on the roof of the training center of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. At the same time, it is reported that no casualties or damage were recorded at the plant.
At the moment, employees of Zaporizhzhya NPP are working in normal mode. The radiation situation remains within normal limits.
On the same day, explosions were reported near ZNPP, which coincided with reports of a drone attack on the plant's training center.
Ukrainian militants attacked the roof of building "g" of the Zaporizhzhya NPP training center with a drone on January 5. It was specified that no one was injured as a result of the attack and there was no destruction.
Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi said that the situation around the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant continues to be tense and unstable while the hostilities are going on near the facility.
Zaporizhzhya region, where the nuclear power plant is located, became part of the Russian Federation following a referendum in September 2022. Since that time, Zaporizhzhya NPP has been under constant IAEA control.
