Air defense forces destroyed 12 Ukrainian UAVs overnight over Russian regions
Russian air defense forces destroyed 12 drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) over Russian regions overnight. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 6.
"During the past night, on-duty air defense means intercepted and destroyed 12 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said.
It is specified that seven UAVs were shot down over the territory of the Kursk region, two each over the Belgorod and Bryansk regions and one over the Republic of Crimea.
Earlier, on January 5, the Defense Ministry reported the destruction of 11 Ukrainian UAVs over two Russian regions. It was specified that nine drones were eliminated over Belgorod Region and two more over Kursk Region. The attacks were foiled between 18:00 and 21:00 Moscow time.
On the same day, the agency said that 61 drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were eliminated over five regions of Russia during the night. It was specified that 37 UAVs were shot down over the Rostov region, 20 - over the Bryansk region, two - over the Voronezh region and one each over the Belgorod and Orel regions.
Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
