Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may announce his resignation as leader of the Liberal Party of Canada on January 6. This was reported by the Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail.

"Trudeau may announce as early as Monday about his resignation from the post of leader of the Liberal Party," - stated in the material of the newspaper.

It is specified that at the moment it is not known whether Trudeau will leave his post immediately or will wait for the election of the next prime minister. The newspaper also added that perhaps he will announce his resignation from office not on Monday, but it will happen no later than Wednesday.

Earlier. December 23, it was reported that more than a third of Canadian MPs from the Liberal Party said they wanted to send the country's Prime Minister to resign as party leader.

Before that, on December 16, Trudeau said that he did not intend to leave his post because of changes in the Cabinet and the resignation of Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland. He specified that he wants to continue to make Canada better together with his colleagues in the party.

On the same day, it was reported that Trudeau was considering resigning over Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland's decision to leave the government. Freeland said she would leave the cabinet on December 16, as Trudeau decided to strip her of her portfolio as finance minister, transferring her to another government job.

On October 17, political scientist Gleb Belyakov said that Canadians are tired of the ruling Liberal Party and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who has been in office for almost nine years. In his opinion, the main reasons are a period of high inflation and slower GDP growth compared to the United States. The expert also stressed that Trudeau constantly creates negative infoprovocations, such as honoring an SS veteran in Parliament, buying a condominium in Manhattan for $9 million to the consul general.
