Fishing vessel with 20 people on board capsized in Japan


A fishing vessel with 20 people on board capsized off the coast of the port of Kashima in the Japanese prefecture of Ibaraki. This was reported on January 6 by NHK TV channel with reference to the coast guard.
It is specified that in the course of rescue operations managed to find 17 crew members, two of them died. The whereabouts of three more crew members is unknown, their search continues. Ships and helicopters of the country's coast guard are involved in the search operation.
According to the Japanese Coast Guard, at the time of the incident, the sea in this place was sunny, and the height of the waves was 0.5 meters.
Earlier, on December 23, a 100-meter container ship overturned in the port of Istanbul. Fifteen people were evacuated from the vessel. The risk of sea pollution was controlled by surrounding the vessel with a floating barrier.
