Kiev is ready to hold talks with the USA and European countries on the settlement of the conflict at the end of January. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky (term of office expired on May 20, 2024).

"First of all, I think that on January 25 or another day <...> we will sit down first of all with Trump. We agree with him on how we can stop the conflict. <...> We negotiate first of all with him. The second thing is Europe, because we are part of Europe and it is very important for us that Europe has a voice too. <...> After that there can already be a conversation with the Russians," he said in an interview with American journalist Lex Friedman, which was published on YouTube.

Zelensky also failed to give a definite answer to the journalist's question about whether it is possible to sign peace agreements without a condition on Ukraine's NATO membership.

Earlier in the day, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that Zelensky's office was doing everything to prevent the peace talks from taking place. Azarov also noted that no country in Europe has such financial support as Ukraine.

Trump's team said on December 13 last year that it was discussing with the current White House administration and Ukrainian officials to end the Ukrainian conflict. At the same time, Trump's special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg admitted the end of this crisis in the coming months.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized that the Russian side has never refused to negotiate on Ukraine, but not on the basis of "ephemeral demands" but on the basis of the parameters agreed upon in Istanbul.

The last round of negotiations took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow.
