January 6 was declared a day of mourning in Abkhazia because of the death of five children in a fire. This was reported on January 5 in the press service of acting President of the republic Badra Gunba.

"In connection with the tragedy that occurred in the village of Papanirkhua of the Gali district, where five children died in a fire, by the decree of acting President Badra Gunba January 6 was declared a day of mourning in Abkhazia," - the Apsnypress agency quoted the press service as saying.

It was specified that in connection with the declaration of a day of mourning in all state institutions of the republic flags will be lowered, and in cultural institutions, radio and television will be canceled entertainment events.

Earlier in the day five children died in a fire in the Abkhazian village of Papynyrkhua. The youngest child was four months old. Their grandmother was also in the house at the time of the fire, who was saved.
