Russian air defense forces have shot down four more unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Ukrainian army over Belgorod and Kursk regions. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 5.

"Between 15:00 and 18:00 Moscow time, the air defense forces on duty destroyed four Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles: three UAVs over the territory of Belgorod region and one over the territory of Kursk region," the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, air defense forces destroyed five Ukrainian drones over Belgorod and Kursk regions in two hours. Also on January 5, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that a Ukrainian FPV drone attacked agricultural machinery on the Cheremoshnoye - Nikolskoye section of the highway, resulting in the driver being injured. He was given the necessary medical care.

In addition, on that day the AFU attacked with one UAV the training center of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. As a result, no one was injured and there was also no destruction.

During the night of January 5, the Defense Ministry reported that Russian air defense forces (Air Defense Forces) destroyed 61 AFU drones over five Russian regions.

Ukrainian militants have been trying to strike Russian territories amid the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
