Arkhangelsk Vodnik won the Super Cup of Russia in ball hockey for the first time


The Arkhangelsk team Vodnik won the Super Cup of Russia in ball hockey for the first time by beating Kemerovo Kuzbass 6:1. The meeting on January 5 was held in Arkhangelsk.
Players Pavel Pozhilov and Mikhail Shirshov brought the team one goal each, while one goal was scored by Kuzbass hockey player Dmitry Makarov.
More than about 8,000 people attended the match at Trud Stadium.
Vodnik club is a nine-time champion of the Russian Federation. The team has one CIS Cup and five Russian Cups on its account. Last year Vodnik became the silver medalist of the Russian championship and the finalist of the Cup of Russia.
Before that, in November 2024, the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) announced the launch of the hockey championship in a new 3x3 format. It was noted that the new hockey format may become part of the Winter Olympics program in the near future. The regular championship will last until June 2025, 312 matches will be played. Eight teams from three countries will take part in the first season of the tournament: Avangard Omsk, Ak Bars Kazan, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Salavat Yulaev Ufa, Sibir Novosibirsk and Traktor Chelyabinsk, as well as Barys Astana and Dynamo Minsk.
