Teenagers planning a terrorist attack in Yekaterinburg arrested

Teenagers accused of preparing a terrorist attack in Yekaterinburg have been arrested. This was reported in the press service of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court on January 5.

They noted that two teenagers of 16 and 17 years old are charged under Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph 1, paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 205 ("Terrorist act"), Part 2 of Article 223.1 ("Illegal manufacture of explosives"), paragraph "a" of Part 3 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale and storage of explosives").

Another defendant, a 17-year-old college student, is charged under paragraph "a" of part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act").

According to the investigation, the crimes were committed by prior conspiracy of the defendants.

As reported in the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, the investigation appealed to the court with a motion to elect a preventive measure in the form of detention in respect of all three defendants.

"Today the court granted the investigator's petitions to remand the defendants in custody. The measure of restraint for all three was elected until February 21," - said in the Telegram-channel of the Sverdlovsk regional court.

Earlier, on January 4, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia charged two teenagers for preparing a terrorist attack in Yekaterinburg and carrying explosives.

According to the version of the investigation, the two defendants purchased components for the manufacture of a homemade explosive, and then independently made an improvised explosive device and an electric detonator, which one of the accomplices carried in his backpack until the moment of detention. It was also noted that one of the accused was involved in the arson of a police car on December 22, 2024 on Chapaeva Street.

On the same day, the FSB reported the detention of teenagers who were planning a terrorist attack in Yekaterinburg. It was reported that they shared the ideas of a terrorist organization banned in the country. A criminal case was opened on preparation for terrorism by a group of persons, as well as on illegal manufacture and storage of explosive devices.
