Air defense forces have destroyed five Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the territory of Belgorod and Kursk regions in two hours. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 5.

"Between 10:00 and 12:00 (Moscow time) five Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by on-duty air defense means: three UAVs - over the territory of Belgorod region and two - over the territory of Kursk region," the ministry said in a statement published in its Telegram channel.

Earlier in the day, the Defense Ministry said that air defense forces destroyed 37 Ukrainian UAVs overnight over Rostov region, 20 over Bryansk region, two over Voronezh region and one each over Belgorod and Orel regions.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
