Russian Air Force aircraft shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29 aircraft in the SFE zone


Russian Aerospace Forces (AFS) aircraft have destroyed a MiG-29 multi-role fighter of the Ukrainian Air Force (AFU). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 5.
"The fighter aviation of the Russian VKS forces shot down a MiG-29 aircraft of the Ukrainian air forces," the report said.
In addition, Russian air defense (air defense) assets shot down three French-made Hammer guided aerial bombs and a US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system. Also destroyed were 174 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles of the airplane type.
Prior to that, on December 15 last year, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that a MiG-29 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in the SFO zone was shot down by Russian air defense means. A day earlier, on December 14, the press secretary of the governor of Kherson Region, Volodymyr Vasylenko, said that Russian air defense means had shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29 tactical aircraft over the region.
Also on November 23, the Russian Defense Ministry shared footage of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) striking an Iskander surface-to-air missile system with a cluster rocket and destroying a Ukrainian MiG-29 combat aircraft at the Dnipro airfield.
The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
