Perry, the donkey who became the prototype of Donkey from the American cartoon "Shrek", died in California's Ball Park at the age of 30. This was reported on January 3 by the Palo Alto newspaper with reference to the donkey's chaser Jenny Kiratly.

"Perry, the beloved miniature donkey, which was an integral part of the Ball Park for almost three decades and which, as you know, served as a model for the character Donkey in "Shrek", was euthanized", - noted in the message.

It is noted that the animal was put to sleep on January 2 after a prolonged illness associated with hoof disease - laminitis. Donkey Perry was 30 years old, adds "Gazeta.Ru".

According to the newspaper, for the life of the animal fought for several months. There were sessions of acupuncture, as well as laser light therapy and warm massage for pain relief. However, Perry's condition did not improve, after which the decision was made to euthanize him.

A park ranger said that it was Perry's donkey that served as the inspiration for the cartoon character Donkey, who was voiced by actor Eddie Murphy.
