Last night in Moscow became the coldest since the beginning of the new year, the thermometer columns fell to -6.8 degrees Celsius. About this on Sunday, January 5, said the leading expert of the weather center "Fobos" Evgeny Tishkovets.

"The past night in Moscow became the coldest since the beginning of the year. <...> The minimum thermometer in Moscow at the base weather station VDNKh showed -5.6 degrees, in the city center - at the weather station Balchug - -4.5, in Tushino - -6.8," - said Tishkovets in his Telegram-channel.

At the same time, the snow cover grew by 4 centimeters overnight, but its height for the beginning of January remains twice lower than the norm. The temperature norm, despite the fact that the night was the coldest, also falls short of the January climate norm by at least 7 degrees.

"In the coming night in the cold rear of the cyclone, the air in Moscow will again cool down to -4...-7, in the Moscow region - to -3 to -8, in some places - to -11," - indicated Tishkovets.

Earlier on January 5 in the forecast of the Hydrometeorological Center noted that residents of the capital region on Sunday expect cloudy weather with clearings, in some places - light snow and ice, in some places heavy. In Moscow region during the day forecasters promise from -7 to -2 degrees, at night the temperature may fall to -10.
