The U.S. admired the power of the Russian Tu-160M bomber

Russian bomber Tu-160M "White Swan" is a "cold-blooded killer". This opinion was expressed by The National Interest (TNI) magazine on January 5.

It is noted that the bomber has undergone significant modernization, and now it has more powerful engines and improved combat characteristics: it has an impressive strike range, maneuverability and amazing speed.

"The Russian military has adopted a rapid modernization program that is simply stunning, especially if we take into account the ridiculous statements by Western media that sanctions will break the back of the Russian economy and defense-industrial base," the piece said.

The Tu-160M is capable of carrying up to 12 cruise missiles, including nuclear missiles.

In addition, the publication reports that the bomber is a key element of Russia's nuclear deterrent.

Last December, Rostec State Corporation CEO Sergei Chemezov said that specialists of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) had done a lot of work to resume production of modernized Tu-160M missile carriers. He specified that the technology of vacuum welding of titanium products has been restored, production of airframe units and unique systems has been resumed.

Russia's Air and Space Forces have already received the first new Tu-160s over the past couple of years, and in December 2024 it was announced that the long-range aviation will receive four Tu-160M aircraft during 2025.
