The State Duma informed about the increase of maternity capital from February 1
The amount of maternal family capital will be increased in Russia from February 1, 2025, its increase will occur in proportion to the percentage of inflation. This was announced on January 5 by Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs.
"For the first child it will amount to Br676 thousand, and for the second and subsequent children - Br894 thousand or Br217 thousand, if the family previously received a payment," - said the deputy in a conversation with Lenta.ru.
Bessarab also expressed hope that in the coming year the maternity capital will be allowed to spend on high-tech medical care, Gazeta.Ru added.
"Especially since many regions have already allowed their regional maternity capital to be used for mother and child, for the treatment of complex diseases or when there is a long waiting list and a quick, for example, surgical intervention is required. We are very much counting on the fact that we will come to understand the need for this," she added.
Earlier, on November 29 last year, the newspaper "Kommersant" with reference to the department's response to deputies Sergei Mironov and Yana Lantratova ("Fair Russia - For Truth") reported that the Ministry of Finance did not support the idea of large families buying domestic cars with maternity capital. Parliamentarians proposed to allow spending Br450 thousand from the maternity capital for the purchase of Russian cars after the birth of the third child.
Before that, October 28, the press service of the Ministry of Labor reported that Russia plans to allocate an additional Br2.7 trillion to extend the maternity capital program until 2030. The Ministry explained that this will allow to provide 3.2 million families with matkapital. According to data as of September 1, 2024, 14.3 million certificates for payments have been issued in Russia since the maternity capital started in 2007.
