Indonesian parliament speaker says she wants to visit Russia

Indonesian Parliament Speaker Puan Maharani has said that she could visit Russia if she were sent a corresponding official invitation. As she pointed out on January 5, exchanges and visits between the parliaments of Russia and Indonesia take place regularly.
"I see an opportunity to visit Russia if I receive an invitation from my colleague in Moscow," RIA Novosti quoted the politician as saying.
Bilateral friendly interaction groups have also been established on the part of the parliaments of the two countries, she said.
"Thus, we already have various platforms for consultations between the parliaments of both countries in order to develop bilateral cooperation in all areas," Maharani said.
Earlier, on December 28 last year, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received an invitation from the Russian side to come to Moscow for the victory parade on May 9 in 2025. The country's embassy in Russia told Izvestia that there is no confirmation of Subianto's visit yet, but there is a possibility that he will attend the gala event.
The day before, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that nine countries, including Indonesia, will join the BRICS community as partners from January 1, 2025. The other eight are Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda and Uzbekistan.
