Air defense forces destroyed 61 Ukrainian UAVs overnight over Russian regions

Russian air defense forces destroyed 61 drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) over five Russian regions overnight. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 5.

"During the past night, on-duty air defense means destroyed 61 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles", - stated in the message in the Telegram-channel.

It is specified that 37 UAVs were eliminated over the Rostov region, 20 - over the Bryansk region, two - over the Voronezh region and one each over the Belgorod and Orel regions.

Earlier, on January 4, the Defense Ministry reported the elimination of 10 drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) over the Leningrad, Pskov, Kursk and Voronezh regions. The attacks were foiled between 08:20 and 11:30 Moscow time.

On the same day, the agency said that Russian air defense forces destroyed 16 Ukrainian drones overnight over five Russian regions. 10 of them were shot down over the Bryansk region, three - over the Smolensk region, one drone each was eliminated over the Belgorod, Pskov and Leningrad regions.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
